Early Start

Couldnt sleep, and woke up at 3:30.  So headed up to the river: got 6, 2 small and 4 of OK size.

Is it still there?

No.  But got 14.  Mostly small.

So close!!!!!

Lost it.  It ran downstream, and somehow a loop of line on the reel got tangled and it busted off.  Well over 10lb.  Well over.

Rain finally stopped

Got 9 -- only 2 were small.  Fish were not in the usual spots!!!!

Got 1 small one at the 2nd bridge.

Post Christmas -- river too high

It was raining and raining.   The evening before the river height was OK, but at the top of the range.  Unfortunately, when I got there the river had risen dramatically.  I did some pruning.

Christmas Eve

Went to the Tyenna to get raspberries.  Had to fish for an hour!  Got 2.

Lessons

Took Martha to the Tyenna for lessons in fly fishing.  I promised that she would catch a fish, and it was touch and go, but we eventually got one!

Raspberries!

Bronte with Cameron

This must be the most sucesful trip we have ever had.  Cameron got 3 (one was tiny).  I got 2, and lost another.

We also spent a LOT of time just chatting.

My first fish - -a brown of about 1.5 lb

It was windy.  Soon the waves were high and it was hard to cast!

My 2nd fish -- a rainbow of almost 3 lb

Teaching with no students

I was going to teach a friend, but it was to cold.  But I went anyway!!!

Caught 9, but most were small.  The river was high, and most of the fish I caught were tight to the bank under a tree in a pod.

Melbourne Cup!!!

Got 15 -- about 1/2 were 1 lb, and the other half were really small.

The river was unexpectedly high, so fishing was hard.
