Alaska Day 22

Slept in - got up at 5. What a mistake. The Kenai / Russian was on fire. Landed and released 5 reds (fair caught). Lost a Silver at my feet. By 10 the place was a zoo and pulled up stumps and trout fished, then went to the Quartz for Dollies.

Alaska day 21

Started at the Anchor River near Homer. Alarm was set for 4 am. Alarm went off. I snoozed for 5 minutes. In that 5 minutes 3 cars arrived. By the time I had rigged up at least 15 cars were on the river. The weather was atrocious - perfect for fishing. I got a tiny Dolly Varden and pricked a Silver. Several people hooked up with multiple Silvers. By noon I was cold and wet, so gave up and migrated back to Quartz creek, where I got another 3 Dollies.

Alaska day 20

Went to Hope and taught Elsa Dieckgraeff to fly fish. She caught a bunch, including one in the mouth. The others were snagged. But she had fun!

Drove to Homer to fish the Anchor river. Also drove to the western most point of the US/Canada continuous road system.

Alaska day 19

Met up with Carlos to float the Kenai.

What a day.  Fishing was poor, though we did hook some fish.  But the float was magnificent.  Lost 3 fish. Left at 8 am, and finished at 7 pm. Then went to Quartz creek till 9.15, where I got a Dolly Varden to avoid being skunked.
