Alaska Day 24

 What a day!

Hit the Russian.  Lots of people as it was the last day for sockeye -- but they were old and red already.  Also lots fishing for trout.  Must have got well over 30, about 1/2 of them 16" or bigger.  Peach beads were the go.

Pics because Cass was saying 'Where are the fish pics"

Alaska Day 23

Went to the "Guardrails Pool".  No real luck.  A few small fish.  But bites were few and far between.

Went to Quartz, but the salmon were dying off, and I couldnt find any trout or dollies.  Overall a beautiful day, but poor fishing.  (Probably should have hit the Russian)

Explored a walk in spot on the Kenai.  No luck.  Saw a massive (20lb) trout under a tree.

Finished at Jim's

Alaska Day 22

Back to the 'guardrails pool'.  Lots of small trout and dolly varden.  I did hook something large, but lost it.

Then went to Jim's in the evening for no real luck, but saw an eagle.

Alaska Day 20

Started at Jim's early in the morning, and got a nice dolly.

Tried a new tactic.  Parked at one of the highway pullouts and walked along the guardrails till I found a path down to the river.  Aimed for a hole I had fished at last year.  A guide boat pulled in before I got there, and proceeded to catch some monsters!  I chatted with the guide, and fished when they left.

Alaska Day 19

Early morning at the Russian.  The run was old -- only 1 fair hooked.  Many more snagged.

Went to Jims and got 6 trout / DV.  Slept at Jims.  The Russian River campground closed for the year.

Alaska Day 18

Morning at the Russian.  Mid-day at Quartz.  Evening at Jims.  Fishing was average for AK, which is amazing for anywhere else.
